If weather cooperates and other variables do same, I plan to float fish the upper James in VA next Thursday, 8 Aug. Will be accompanied by my pal Bill from NC. Well be staying at Wattstull Motel at exit 168 on I-81, vic Buchanan, VA. Any and all are welcome to join us. Target fish are smallmouth (photo below from late June trip).

That sounds like a gun trip.

Nice looking smallie. If I still lived in the area, I would consider joining you.

Have fun!

neilsen,

Looks like you are set to have a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing your trip report.

P.S. I'm currently in Redding visiting relatives and being fried by the heat. Off to Bend in a couple of days.

The highs in Redding, according to the weather people, are in the upper 80s, with lows in the 60s. It was 94 here yesterday, in the shade, and 106 in my backyard...with 40 % humidity.

Doug, it did cool off a lot today but the previous 2 days were scorching. Rain is predicted for tomorrow just as we leave.
