...for the next outing. the caddis are still around and the small nymph droppers will help...
Maybe the weather will hold and we won't be swamped or covered with sweat...NC trout fishing is not quite as predictable as Putnam and Dutchess County, NY. We have only three optional rivers within our one-day motoring "range." I'll post what happened even if we come up skunked. Bux

Even a day of getting skunked is better than a day not fishing.Good luck on Tues.

Tuesday, 5/21, is on! It may be the last hurrah until autumn.... I'll get back to you with the total truth as usual. It may hit the 80s but if we get some clouds it may not be so bad. I've promised John that I will drive conservatively. :o

Kaboom! Forecast +90F temps have just sunk any attempt to hit the rivers around here. Most of the streams we fish are small...even the "big" ones rarely have pockets and pools more than chest (5') deep. Thus, next Tuesday will find me tossing the ball to the Belgian in the early AM rather than wading with the slender rod in a luke-warm brook. I just hope the trout survive in the deeper pockets and pools. Bux

Two things -

1) The water won't be anywhere near that warm, no matter how far downstream you are, and

2) If you were headed to DH waters, in 2 weeks it's "open season" for everybody and the fish are toast then

Take plenty of water and have at it - there's not likely to be a break before June 1.

If Macko is driving, take a flask of scotch, too. My experience tells me that it eases many discomforts which is why the medical profession hates it.

My fishing pal, John, doesn't tipple at all. Thus, I respect his feelings and wait until I get home....actually, a hot shower followed by a nice 8:1 martini is a dandy finish to the day's efforts....fish or no fish. ;)
In cool to cold temperatures a malty scotch fills the bill and repairs any bodily damage.

Sorry to hear your outing was cooked Bux. I know SC is on the edge of trout country. Our high today was 57℉ and the water was colder. I've been shepherding a US tourist from San Jose. Today he caught is first South Island trout, a lovely 15" brown.
