My wading is pretty much a thing of the past. My legs and hips give out pretty quickly making balance hard in the water. They also make walking any distance painful. I've taken to carryingan ultra light camping stool with me so I can sit down and let my legs and back "come back to life" when I need to.

BTW, October is a great month for Virginia trout fishing.

Untouched but that is par for the course , I installed a full house generator. But if we never use it money well spent.

The retractable wading staff can be adjusted in length depending an your situation - the length chosen when wading is not constant....there are many times when a too-long shaft is not helpful - obviously, a short staff is of little use in deep currents and vice versa. The staff is not always down at your side as would be a walking staff/cane.
Last trip to the GOTC in VA, I had the wading staff in one hand and a stout white birch tree branch and the rod in the other just to get back across the shallow river and slippery rocks above the picnic table - it worked, but it wasn't pretty....only Eric Bridge saw the comedy, but he has kept it to himself....so far. I never even saw him smile.
Eric is trulyis his father's son....that said, Fred would have quietly needled me about that scene of clumsiness. :D :D Damn, but I miss Fred and his humor and understanding...and needling.

I miss Fred and Col. Kelleher a bunch on this site, and in person. A couple of fine men there.
