Homeowner's insurance? The fine would not be huge anyway and you'd be doing the right thing.

I don't know why Animal Control or the local court system couldn't charge the owner. Can't charge someone BEFORE the fact, but certainly after the fact. The attacking dog should be quarantined. The owner should be held to some degree responsible.

Gene, the owner is a snowflake and they are NOT responsible for anything. You should know this.

Can't be too broke if he can afford a pit bull...

Actually, every other transient here has a dog. I always take a couple sandwich bags of dog food with me when we go downtown (where they all hang out) and give them to the bums. Just because their owner is worthless doesn't mean the dogs should go hungry.

Cool idea.

As you know, that's not quite how it works. People have their own priorities, as reflected by their bank accounts, regardless of how good they are. Many, if not most, Americans have things they can't afford.

Doc, funny story about this. We frequent a martini bar downtown and walking to and from the car is where I encounter the bums with their signs and dogs.
One evening we didn't pass any with any dogs and I had shorts on with two cargo pockets full of dog food.
My always walks in and grabs my drink or eats off my plate and thinks nothing of it.
So knowing his coming I got a bar glass and dumped some dog food in so it looked like a snack on the table. Sure enough he came in grabbed some and gobbled them down while waving at the waitress.

Everyone got a chuckle out of it except him.
