Saw Al last Friday. I’ve been tying in many shows where he attends and it always a pleasure to sit down and pass some time. His wife is a hoot but a real lady as well. I look forward to seeing them 2-3 times a year. Hoping to get him to go fishing here in the future, soon I hope.

I got to meet Al and His wife back about 2000 when I was just starting to tie flies. I learned a lot from their demonstrations. I got to see them two or three times during demonstrations in Gunnison when they were living in Montrose Colorado. I also bought a VCR video of them and another couple demonstrating how to tie Gary Lafontaine's flies. Still have the video tape but don't have a vcr any more. I still tie on the Danica vise they recommended for a quality budget minded vise.
