That bums me out.

Favorite line "You can't eat sign."

I'll miss him. One of the few writers who could put me on the floor laughing. I think "Grogan's War Surplus" was my favorite...his falling on Strange from the hammock was hysterical.

I'm going to pour a big sip. My late brother Rod (aka Retch) and I shared many, many laughs on Patrick McManus's account.

Years ago, I stopped on my way to the airport to buy a fishing magazine at one of the chain bookstores. They had 6 or 7 McManus paperbacks wrapped together for very little more than the cost of the magazine. There were probably people on that flight and several others who wondered what I was reading that was so funny. Best literary purchase ever.

Man, that saddens me. First Ed Zern and now Patrick McManus.

I managed to miss that he wrote a series of mysteries, so I'll be starting on those soon.

My, who could forget the Lower Forty. I recently sold a bunch of my books and one that I kept was Corey Ford Sporting Treasurey. I still have a copy of Gene Hills first book " A Hunters Fireside Book" that I ordered directly from him and he wrote a nice little inscription to me in it.

I have a copy of Zern's book, Hunting and Fishing from A to Z that I bought off Alibris for $1 and when I got it, it was autographed.

I think my favorite author though, and one I return to often was Gordon MacQuarrie and his stories of the Old Duck Hunters.

Pat McManus, Corey Ford and Gene Hill.....I read every one of them I could find, many moons ago. I think I'll start all over again - looking & shopping as of tonight. Bux
