Ol' Cuz and I went over to Coley's for dinner tonight. Coley cooked mallards and wood duck, wild rice, collards, onions and carrots. We got ready with several drinks of bourbon and I took a nic ered wine to have with dinner. Coley's buddy, Dino Jenkins, was there. (Dino is the son of Doug Jenkins, 'The Green Hornet' and president of the local watermen's association.) My grandson, ECN VI, calle "Lee Boy", 11, was there as were Coley's two Labs, Boudan and ancient old Kletis. The wood stove was working. The stories were at least twice-told. Good night.

Good company makes all food and drink better. Sounds like a fun evening.

Ol' Cuz and I with great granddaddy's old LC hammer gun. We both killed our first squirrels with it. He was the first ECN, so Coley now has it.

Duck, rice collards and veggies. Coley knows how to cook duck

Yep. She's Damascus. It's amazing she didn't blow up in my and Ol' Cuz's faces when we were kids messing with her.

Nah. That Damascus blowing up thing is pure myth, unless the gun wasn't taken care of properly.

I know dozens of folks who have owned and shot them, including your's truly. I have a good friend who won't even look at a shotgun unless it's Damascus...

Great grandaddy's Elsie is well over 100 years old and still virgin tight. Heavy old gal, too.

Yup, that gun will see more generations of Newtons.

...a while back...someone tested a well made set of Damascus barrels against a set of modern steel barrels.

Increasing pressure proof rounds until one failed. The modern barrels failed first.
