So it was -4 this morning.
Thursday and Friday will be in the 60's.
Saturday and Sunday, 50% chance of snow.

What the heck is going on?

Schizophrenic weather here as well. Forecast is for 6 tonight and 67 on Saturday. I am worrying more about flu than weather, though. It seems especially nasty this year.

Put yourself in a carton and fly FedEx, they will have the Memphis airport open. They probably own the largest collection of snow and ice removal equipment in the SE USA.

It was 50 degrees at 4pm and sleeting. At 4:30, it was 33, with an inch of snow on the ground. About 3 inches now, more on the way. Supposed to drop to 6 or 8 tonight, so it won't be melting. The roads will be covered with ice tomorrow into Thursday afternoon. It's easy to drive on snow. Driving on ice is a sketchy business.

I would have thought driving on ice would not be sketchy for an engineer who was versed in Newton's first rule. ;)

Conversely, I am often amazed at the number of guys driving with 4-wheel drive who are totally ignorant about it.

Only fools and Russians drive on ice, and Russians race motorcycles on it.

The 3 inches of snow at 10pm collapsed to 1 inch at daybreak. Got down to 14, with a -5 windchill. Driveway is a sheet of ice. Street s a sheet of ice. Have not heard a train this morning. Not supposed to warm up until tomorrow afternoon. We're all cozy in the house and did not buy extra bread, milk, or eggs. I did check the liquor cabinet - we're good. Both ponds are frozen.

Have the laptop, will be working from home until Friday.

Spent the afternoon on the ice again. 34 yesterday with bright sun all day. 47 today and thick fog All day. Still had 6 inches of clear hard ice. 31 Bluegill to show for it. Puts us up around 200 filets in the freezer. Gonna have a fish fry while we listen to the Indy 500 with about 50 of our friends. Beats the hell out of sittin in the House.

Brad, I am convinced Texas was where they originally said "If you don't like the weather, stay around and it will change." I saw it go from 70 deg. to windchill of -40 in 36 hours in Amarillo.
