The 23rd of this month marks the 61st (sixty first) anniversary of my wife and I. She has mixed emotions about the occasion. I've planned a nice dinner at the Thai Orchid, the best Thai restaurant in the city and will let her order her favorites from the menu.
I think the old adage states: A man marries and believes that his bride will never change. A woman marries and believes that her groom will change for the better....neither assumption comes to pass...ever. But you gents all know that already. Not to worry, keep the faith.

I hope Donna reads this. She'll be delighted to read how you "will let her order her favorites from the menu."

If you don't end up with a fork stuck in your thigh, or worse, you'll be lucky.

If I was going to celebrate something I'd been doing for 61 years, I don't think I'd go to Thai restaurant in North Carolina.

Bux and his better half has 10 years and a month on me and my better half; taking that into consideration I believe I will try to follow his example, rather than yours. However, we won't be going to a Thai restaurant unless my wife really surprises me with her request, probably Italian.

Well congratulations Bux. I'll have to live to 86 to match your years. I doubt I'll make it. We've both changed, mostly for the better. We're both a lot more tolerant of each other. One thing that's changed over the years is that most often on special occasions the lovely Missus asks me to cook for her rather than going out. Says she gets what she wants and knows she'll love it.

Like Satchel, I think it is unlikely that Mrs. Trout Bum and I will ever make the 61 year milestone. I would be a few days shy of my 91st birthday to make that date.

Please don't tell Tanya she's missing out on an evening at a Thai restaurant.

Congrats to you, Ed. Please pass my sympathy along to your bride.

Congrats.

We married late (I was 29, she was 25), had kids late (I was 36, she was 32)...so I doubt we'll make 61 years either...but given advances in medicine...who knows....I'd be 90, she'd be 86...

But I can't think of anything better.

As above, we tend to stay home on anniversaries*. We like quiet, we tend to like our cooking better than restaurants, it's less expensive, it's less hassle...in short...it's us...

Wouldn't trade it for anything.

*Well...we tend to stay home often. Might change with retirement...wouldn't count on it.
