Scherzer ad the Nats thrashing the Braves today was a little salve for the wounds of the last three games.

The Dodgers have a 3-1/2 game lead on the Braves for best record in the NL. This presents a conundrum.

The Braves could, conceivably, pass the Dodgers with the best record, which would secure them home field advantage through the playoffs.

But...the team with the best record will play the winner of the wild card play-in game, which is likely a game between the Cubs and the Nationals and the Nats should win that. So No. 1 has to play the Nats.

The No.2 team plays the No.3 team, likely the Cardinals.

The Nats are a more dangerous team, I think, than the Cards. And I really don't want to turn around and play the Nats again after having played them for two series in September. And the Braves have the best away record in the NL (2nd only to the Yankees in MLB - by one game today).
