I was there, but only once....back when I was in college (1951-1956) I bogeyed freshman year at Cornell... most likely it was while I was at St. Lawrence, prior to my Uncle sending me to Georgia for additional aggravation.

Most likely SLU...sounds like an escorted Vinnie Cashman NYC pub tour. Vinnie always picked up the tabs, added the 15% tip, then divided it by one less, collected cash from us all, and...ergo, he always went for free.

Possibly, but not assuredly. So many of the trips to "the city" were a blur even back then. I do remember the many trips to 52d street for the music and bars that hosted Dixieland stuff as the draw. All in the 1950s...my oh my...I'm talking 60 plus years ago. Jimmy Ryan's just came to me out of the fog.

I went there a lot. I watched the first cable NBA game there when cable first started. I was there when they let women in and only had 1 bathroom. They also had the best liverwurst on black bread with raw onion in the world. Great times

Fraunces Tavern was also where the FALN bombed in 75 a bad time. Good people died.
