 Post subject: Our Pal Jim in a wreck

Yesterday. He broke about 10 ribs and had some other damage. That's all I know for now and I think it's all he knows. A friend went by this morning and the hospital and said he's kinda out of it. I'll keep you posted when I know some more.

I talked to him a little while ago. He's in ICU because of the possibility of things going south with rib damage. He was morphined up but fairly cogent. I suppose they'll settle things out as the week passes. He doesn't remember what exactly happened. His wife was in the car and got banged up a bit, but nothing serious.

Sorry to hear this. Best advice: if the doctors wrap Jim in gauze, suspend anything in a sling, or put a cast on anything, tell him not to try to adjust anything for the sake of comfort. Don't ask how I learned this.
