The other night I came across a fly box full of beautifully tied old-time streamers...Mickey Finns, Blacknosed daces and the like. I have no idea where I got it from, probably at a GOTC auction, or who tied them.

Altho in my erly fishing I used streamers quite a lot, I haven't used an old-time streamer in years and wondered if anyone still does.

I used to use them more when I stayed out late fishing sea run browns chasing native juvenile fish migrating up from tidewater. Sunset to dark from September to November. Fortunately we can stalk big browns during daylight using small nymphs and dries. Still use big streamers for saltwater.

Streamers are pretty popular in the Atlanta area, local folks are posting a few photos of large, really large browns from the Chattahoochee in the metro Atlanta area on the local message board. Lots are being caught on streamers, especially large streamers.
