I really ought to have a device put on my computer that disables it for shopping when I've had a couple of drinks. I just learned I bought a bamboo rod the other night...a new rod built on the Phillipson Pacemaker tapers 8' 3 pc., 5 wt. I'll probably like it and it was pretty inexpensive from Anglers Roost. If I'd meant to do it, I'd be a lot happier to learn its on its way.

Squire,

It must have been a healthy amount since you didn't mention the cost involved.
Best you get your creative side in gear to provide a valid reason for acquiring a dandy, high-end, new cane rod.
Even though it is none of our business, you'll personally feel better if you can somehow justify the purchase.
Don't make the mistake of figuring the number of bottles of good bourbon that those funds would have provided... that would be walking a bit too close to the edge of sanity.
We're all here to help.
Bux,

Actually, it was so cheap that I was embarrassed to mention it. I just hope its not entirely Chinese junk. Anglers Roost has a decent reputation, so I have hopes it'll be OK.

You think you got trouble? Talk about OOPS!Today, I went to the liquor store and bought a handle of Glenlivet, put it in the back of my truck. When I opened the back door of my truck, the handle fell out on the concrete driveway and broke. About $75 of liquor down the driveway.

If nobody else will say it I will. Sounds like a prime case of alcohol abuse to me..

I have a Chinese bamboo rod which casts fine. Mr. Zhu or whoever. It works and is cheap, yes, and I had to dip it to make it look acceptable.

Polyurethane. Helped, but it ain't a custom bamboo rod. If you can find a guy with a 3/4" tube of poly, then let it hang to dry, you're in good shape. There are better solutions, but probably not cheaper ones that I know of. Brian should comment on this.

Put the poly in an aluminum rod tube. Probably hold a pint or so. When drying, use clothespins on the ferrules.

Gene,

Sorry, but those instructions sound far too much like a "Rube Goldberg" solution.

It's the only way I know. What do you suggest?
