It's coming on Spring and I'm starting to putz with my tackle. A few minutes ago, I assembled a rod and realized I had no idae what it is or where it came from except it's glass, has Phillipson type ferrules and is for heavy line. It's a "wonder rod" as in "wonder what it is" rod.

Its an old Shakespeare fiberglass rod.
Does it have a model number? Numbers, letters, or a combination?

No markings at all. Dark brown blank. It's a kit rod from appearance but not one I made.

Figured it out. In better light I could see written on it in black ink, "Made for Coly; 8 wt." It's an Orvis kit Fullflex A. Took it outside and was throwing 70 feet with it.

Those Orvis Fullflex A rods & blanks are from the mid 70s.

I know. I think I put this one together about 1977. I was really disappointed in the action...didn't realize Phillipson wasn't still making the Fullflexes. Never have much cottoned to the rod although it felt pretty good today. I may refurbish it after all.

Squire,

It sounds more like the old rod has the rare opportunity of refurbishing you. ;)
